APPLICATIONS
These products have been used typically for parts on which the amount of machining warrants the use of a free-machining grade of steel requiring corrosion resistance similar to the 18-8 type steel, and which will be subjected to high temperatures during facrication or in service.
This specification is a free-machining, corrosion and heat-resistant steel in the form of bars, wire, forgings, and forging stock.

This alloy is generally smelt in Basic Electric Furnace (EAF, AOD). For a purpose of superior quality, it should be smelt via technology of vacuum refining or by agreement. It is suitable for applications such as high tensile shafts, bolts and nuts, gears, pinions spindles and so on.
