MARTENSITIC STAINLESS STEEL / TYPICAL APPLICATIONS
High strength, lower plasticity and weldability. Based on higher carbon content, martensitic steels possess higher strength, hardness, abrasive resistance, but its corrosion resistance is not so good, those steels are for mechanical parts with higher mechanical property and normal corrosion resistance. Such as mechanical spring, blades of steam turbines, hydraulic press valves. Those steels are used after quenching and tempering and annealing after forging, impacting as well.
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The alloy is usually produced by AOD / VOD /VIM followed by electroslag refining (ESR) / VAR if necessary for special purpose. Bars and, where applicable, forgings are subjected to ultrasonic examination based on the different levels according to the buyers' requirements.
Bars are usually supplied black/bright in the annealed condition.
Final heat treatment - Quenched and tempered.
HEAT TREATMENT PRACTICE
Heat treatment is only suitable for specific grades of
stainless steel. When heat treating a stainless the hardening temperatures, including rate of heating, cooling and soaking times will vary due to several factors such as the shape and size of each component. Other considerations during the heat treatment process include the type of furnace, quenching medium and work piece transfer facilities. Please consult with the heat treatment provider for whole guidance on heat treatment of stainless steel grades. We are delighted to help to work with you the special heat treatment based on your special requirements.
