PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The alloy is usually produced by AOD / VOD / VIM followed by electroslag refining (ESR) / VAR if necessary for special purpose.
Bars and, where applicable, forgings are subjected to ultrasonic examination based on the different levels according to the buyers' requirements.
Bars are usually supplied black/bright in the annealed condition.
Final heat treatment - solution treatment / QT

H1 is a precipitation hardened steel, using Nitrogen to harden the steel instead of Carbon. This allows the steel to reach a hardness of HRC 57-58, which is quite remarkable given the steel has very little carbon in it. Grade H1 reported hits hardnesses of HRC65 records.
With the introduction of H1 knives, Cobalt Chromium alloy knives have mostly disappeared from the market. H1 offers all the corrosion resistance of Cobalt Alloys without the added expense of material and production. H1 is quite a revolutionary steel.
HEAT TREATMENT PRACTICE
Heat treatment is only suitable for specific grades of stainless steel. When heat treating a stainless the hardening temperatures, including rate of heating, cooling and soaking times will vary due to several factors such as the shape and size of each component. Other considerations during the heat treatment process include the type of furnace, quenching medium and work piece transfer facilities.
