DATA SHEET - ALLOY TOOL STEEL 50CrMoV13-14 & W-Nr 1.2357
MATERIAL CATEGORY: Hot work alloy tool steel
Hot-work die divides into several main types, such as hammer forging, die forging, extrusion and die casting, including hot forging die, press machine forging die, stamping die, hot-extrusion die, metal die-casting mould. Heat distortion mould not only supports huge mechanical stress, but also thermal stress during working repeatedly. Hot-work die steel should have not only high hardness, red hardness, abrasion resistance, toughness, but also have excellent high temperature strength, thermal fatigue stability, thermal conductivity, upper hardenability for guaranteeing the whole cross section with consistent mechanical property. Steel material commonly used are DIN X35CrMoV5-1-1, DIN 1.2344, DIN X20CoCrWMo10-9 (W-Nr 1.2888), DIN X45NiCrMo4, DIN 60NiCrMoV12-4 (W-Nr.1.2743), DIN X13NiCrSi36-16.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
The alloy is usually produced by EAF /VD /LF /IFF followed by electroslag refining (ESR) if necessary for special purpose.
Bars and, where applicable, forgings are subjected to ultrasonic examination based on the different level according to the
buyers' requirements.
Bars are usually supplied bright (peeling or centreless grinding) in the softened = SA condition.
Final heat treatment - heat treatment / spheroidizing annealing
AVAILABLE SHAPES
Black bar /Flat bar /Square bar
Bright - peeled + polishing /centerless grinding / peeled + slidabrading
Forged - ring /tube /pipe casing /discs /shaft

HEAT TREATTMENT PRACTICE
The preheating of measuring and cutting tool steel is spheroidizing annealing, final heat treatment is quenching + low temperature tempering and hardness after heat treatment can reach 60~65HRC. When heat treat tool steel grades consideration should be given to hardening temperature, including ratio of heating, cooling and soaking times which will differ due to factors such as the shape and size of each chemical component. Other considerations during heat treatment include the type of furnace, quenching medium and work piece transfer facilities.

TYPICAL APPLICATIONS
Alloy tool steel is widely used to produce the cutting tool, cold/heat distortion mould and measuring implements,
and further to manufacture the piston, valve, valve seat of fuel pump of diesel engine.
